CLICK ON A little bit of silliness

The Goddess of Grants is ancient

When the Goddess first started her grant writing career in 1993, mailing paper application packages via USPS was the only method of submission, even for federal grants.

Not surprisingly, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was one of the first foundations to implement an online submission, but not without glitches. Thus, the above comic strip magnet.

A reminder that humor is generally intended to promote social cohesion, and yet it is highly contingent on social context.

Another favorite by Mark Anderson.

And lastly, something of substance: the mean grant professional salary rose 18.5% between 2018 and 2021.

One of my all-time favorite cartoons by David Sipress.

It all started in 2010

While the Goddess of Grants was founded in 1993, the Goddess didn’t work for herself until 2011. As part of an organization — and surprisingly in an academic environment, where inclusion, equity outcomes, and free speech are supposedly celebrated — there were many thoughts the Goddess did not dare say out loud. The Goddess of Grants comic strip became a safe place for expression. Now, it’s just plain silly. Enjoy.

In 2022, the Goddess recreated the original stripgenerator comics in color using Storyboard That.
